Well we did it. We ate broccoli four nights last week and nobody complained except Tage. Broccoli was his favorite vegetable a year ago and now it’s like making him eat sand or something. It doesn’t go down very easy.
Anyway, now I only have a small bag left in the freezer…like a scant gallon bag. That should be easy enough to use up in the next couple months before my broccoli in the garden is ready. Actually, it’s not in the garden yet. It’s in the basement under my grow light and is only about 4 inches tall. But it looks happy and healthy. Can’t wait til I can transplant it!
So since you all had some lovely ideas about what to do with my broccoli, do you have any ideas for cherries? I’ve made a lot of cherry cobbler this winter and I’m looking for something new. Cherry pie is delicious (my favorite) but the rest of the family doesn’t go for it quite like I do. I want relatively healthy dessert ideas. I mean, not sugar- or fat-free but nothing that calls for tubs of whipped topping and blocks of cream cheese. I want something I can use whole grains and/or homemade butter in.
